Tanuma Okitsugu (田沼 意次 1719-88) is a roju (government official) of the Tokugawa shogunate who attempted to reform by introducing money economy.
Having no particular name, his reform, though, is identified with rampant corruption and huge inflation of currency.
His son, Tanuma Mototomo, was killed by Sano Masakoto - an officer of the New Guard and one of his subordinates.
