The Casualties

Image:STICKER6.jpg Image:Casualtiesgroup2.jpg.w300h438.jpg The Casualties are a street punk band, formed in the early 1990s in New York City. Their first offering was their signature EP "40 0z. Casualty". It has had an ever-changing cast of musicians with only the lead singer Jorge remaining from the original lineup.
The band's first demo was recorded in 1990. The band began as an effort to bring back the hardcore punk sound and style of many British hardcore punk bands (also known as UK 82) such as Blitz, The Partisans, One Way System and The Exploited. The band is known to have coined the term "spikey-haired drunk punks," as well as the slogan "up the punx." Although their merchandise was widely distributed through questionable media, by punk credibility standards, their music and attitude has remained virtually the same and true to their UK 82 and Oi roots, largely unnaffected by their success, although some controversy has been made by the fact that if they don't have a proffesional hair dresser, they will not play a show. The real fact is that the band each do their own hair. Die hard fans of the band from their early stages and those who appreciate the value of their music shrug off the subtleties of their success as their attitudes and loyalties have remained the same and are seen as to deserve the success after working (and drinking) so hard at doing what they love. Although many have thought the casualties have hair dressers, they don't. That rumor came form an interview with lead singer jorge, he meant it as a joke. The band is a footnote in the punk rock world, and have influenced many. They have toured widely in Japan, Mexico, and South America, as well as Europe and North America. The Casualties' hardcore fans have dubbed themselves "the Casualties army". The band's lyrics are very political, but harsh . They get down in the grit and sing and play loud, fast, and abrupt, but to the point.
