The Emperor's Club

The Emperor's Club is a 2002 film that tells the story of a prep school teacher and his students. Based on Ethan Canin's short story "The Palace Thief," the film is directed by Michael Hoffman and stars Kevin Kline. The prep school is supposedly based on Phillips Academy, an American prep school located in Andover, MA.
William Hundert is a passionate and principled Classics professor who finds his tightly-controlled world shaken and inexorably altered when a new student, Sedgewick Bell, walks into his classroom. What begins as a fierce battle of wills, gives way to a close student-teacher relationship. Twenty-five years later, Hundert is reunited with his students, and they realize how life has changed them all- all but one.
