The Freechild Project (or Freechild) is an international non-governmental program founded in August 2001 in Olympia, Washington, USA by community organizing activists from the youth voice, youth-led media, and youth rights communities. It was created for the purpose of promoting equality, justice, and access for young people through advocacy, education, and resource-sharing. Freechild coordinates a range of activities under the banner of "connecting young people and social change".

Freechild is a youth development program operated by CommonAction, a nonprofit 501c3 organization that employs community-based critical pedagogy methods to promote social change by employing the frameworks of community youth development. Freechild works with local groups and national networks to strengthen democracy and increase the acknowledgement of interdependence between children, youth and adults. Their website also promotes accountability and transparency towards young people, engagement within communities, and empowerment throughout society.

According to their website, The Freechild Project's current cultural work includes activities in the areas of youth participation, school reform, youth rights, youth-led community organizing, youth councils, community development, Internet activism, youth development, and service learning, as well as children's participation and the children's rights movement as expanded upon in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Henry Giroux and Alex Koroknay-Palicz are two prominent figures on Freechild's Advisory Board. Freechild is loosely affiliated with a variety of organizations, including Do Something, National Youth Rights Association, and Youth On Board, among others.
