USS Lake Erie (CG-70) is a Ticonderoga-class cruiser guided-missile in the United States Navy. She is named for the decisive USN victory in the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812. This class of cruisers carries a powerful armament of surface-to-air missiles (SAMs), ship-to-ship Harpoon missiles, Tomahawk cruise missiles, ASROC anti-submarine missiles, and two rapid-fire 5-inch caliber cannons. In addition, she carries two Seahawk LAMPS multi-purpose helicopters, but mainly for anti-submarine warfare (ASW). Thus, she is equipped for action in all three dimensions, anti-air, anti-surface, and anti-submarine.
