NLP modalities (also referred to as Senses, Perception, Sensory systems) in the theory of neuro-linguistic programming are divided into:

Visual

• Location: on the left, right, top, bottom
• Color
  • Color space
• Shape: convex, concave, straight, curved, sharp,
  • figures: circle, square, line, plane
• Movement: photo, slideshow, video ...
• Examples: Image (picture), painting, poster, drawing

Audio or aural

• Sound: volume, pitch, tempo, rhythm, ...
• Complexity: noise, voice, music:note, melody

Kinesthetic or practical

• Somatic sensation
  • Proprioception: location,
  • Tactition: pressure, texture,
  • Thermoception:temperature
• Taste
• Smell

The senses are closely related to VAK or VARK learning styles. While discussing the learning styles some scientists also add the fourth group:

Reading/writing

• Learning by processing text
