Marquess of Linlithgow

The title of Marquess of Linlithgow was created in the Peerage of the United Kingdom in 1902 for the 7th Earl of Hopetoun, the first Governor-General of Australia. His son would later serve as Viceroy of India.
The Marquess holds the subsidiary titles of Earl of Hopetoun (Scottish, 1703), Viscount Aithrie (Scottish, 1703), Lord Hope (Scottish, 1703), Baron Hopetoun (UK, 1809), and Baron Niddry (UK, 1814). He is also a Baronet of Nova Scotia. The family seat is Hopetoun House.
