Wanted (comics)
From Free net encyclopedia
Image:Wanted.jpg Wanted is a creator-owned comic book miniseries, consisting of six issues written by Mark Millar with art by JG Jones and published by Top Cow. It features an amoral protagonist who discovers he is the heir to a career as a super-villainous assassin in a world where such villains have secretly taken control of the planet.
The series is filled with excessive graphic violence, sexual content, foul language and general juvenile humor, as is typical of Millar's style. Many fans and critics saw the first issue as the promise of a rather good and original mini-series. However, some thought that the series' quality was marred by both late shipping and somewhat ridiculous content. Others, however, thought it was an interesting story that lived up to the hype by London's Sunday Times as "the Watchmen for super-villains."[1] Several characters are based on DC Comics supervillains (rumor has it that the series was originally supposed to be a revamp of the Secret Society of Super-Villains.)
The complete miniseries, along with the Wanted: Dossier, has been collected as a graphic novel, available as both a softcover (ISBN 1582404976) and a hardcover (ISBN 1582404801).
A movie adaptation has been reportedly put into production (Total Film).
