William John Duane

William John Duane (May 9, 1780–September 27, 1865) was a U.S. (Irish-born) lawyer. He served as the 11th Secretary of Treasury in 1833 in President Andrew Jackson's Cabinet. He resigned after he refused to carry out Andrew Jackson's order to divert federal revenues away from the National Bank.
