Wroughton

From Free net encyclopedia

Wroughton is a village in Wiltshire, England. It is part of the borough of Swindon (and is located on the southern outskirts of Swindon).

The older name for the village is Ellendune.

Until the 19th century it was nothing but a mere country village. Wroughton is most prominent for its connection to The Ridgeway (in which its secondary school is named after), a popular National Trail which is often in itself related to the ancient White Horse.

Wroughton was home to RAF Wroughton which closed in the late 1970s.

Wroughton is famous for it annual carnival which attracts many beer louts and young hooligans, and of course the odd float.

For a traditional country experience the Three Tuns provides all the entertainment you will ever need.
