Sir Derek Vestey, 2nd Baronet (June 4 1914 – June 30 2005) was a nephew of William Vestey, 1st Baron Vestey, founder of the Vestey Group.
Though not involved in the running of the family business (which made its fortune in meat supply and processing), Sir Derek was a leading beneficiary of the tax avoidance trusts set up in 1919 to protect the family's wealth. He is chiefly notable for the activities of his heirs and grandchildren: Julia Stephenson, a vegan activist who posed nude in Tatler to promote animal welfare, and her brother Mark Brown, an ecological activist who was charged, and later acquitted, of public order offences in riots connected with the Carnival Against Global Capitalism in London in 1999.
