The National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory is a Nuclear Physics/Chemistry lab where scientists perform experiments using a system of two coupled cyclotrons. The lab is located in the campus of Michigan State University.
The NSCL operates two superconducting cyclotrons. The K500 was the first cyclotron to use superconducting magnets, and the K1200 is the highest-energy continuous beam accelerator in the world.
A proposed Rare Isotope Accelerator RIA (pronounced Ree-ah) may be part of NSCL's future.
The NSCL was the subject of the television documentary Nucleus Factory.
