The Roslin Institute is a government research institute near Edinburgh that is sponsored by the UK's Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC).
In 1997 Dr Ian Wilmut, Keith Campbell and their colleagues created Dolly the sheep, the first mammal to be cloned from an adult cell, at the institute.
