The word nixie has five different meanings, depending on context:
- The mythical water creature known as the "Nix" (aka Näcken / Nøkken), appearing in Scandinavian folk tales
- Another word for Melusine
- Nixie tube, a kind of gas-filled electron tube once in use as a numerical indicator
- Mail returned as "undeliverable" or "gone away"
- A torpedo decoy known as the SLQ-25 Nixie
