The Right Honourable Walter Garrison Runciman, 3rd Viscount Runciman of Doxford, CBE, FBA, is a leading British historical sociologist, more often known as Garry Runciman.

He is a Senior Research Fellow at Trinity College, Cambridge and served as President of the British Academy from 2001 to 2005. He is also Chairman of the shipping company Andrew Weir and Co. Ltd. He is the author of numerous books and learned articles including Relative Deprivation and Social Justice, A Critique of Max Weber's Philosophy of Social Science, the three volume A Treatise on Social Theory and The Social Animal.

He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science at the University of Edinburgh in 1992.Template:UK-noble-stub Template:Sociologist-stub
