- This article refers to the 1960s American television show. For the 1960s song by the same name, see "That Girl".
Image:Marlo thomas.jpg That Girl was a television situation comedy which ran on ABC from 1966 to 1971. It starred Marlo Thomas as the title character, Ann Marie, an aspiring (but only sporadically employed) actress, living in New York City. Ann had to take a number of offbeat "temp" jobs to support herself in between her various auditions and bit parts, though she nonetheless was able to afford a spacious New York apartment, as well as an extensive wardrobe of mod fashions. Ted Bessell played her love interest.
The show's theme song and opening visuals have been parodied in pop culture, first as a series of T-shirts, then as Saturday Night Live skit featuring an African American remake, "That Black Girl", and finally, "That Guy" skit on the television series Family Guy.
Some home video editions of selected episodes from this series were released, including a DVD labeled as "Volume 1" issued in 2001. However, no further volumes were released, and the DVD is now out of print and considered collectible, sometimes going for high prices on auction sites.
