Actaea (bugbane) is a genus of eight species of flowering plants belonging to the family Ranunculaceae, native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere.

The genus is closely related to Cimicifuga, and some botanists include that genus within Actaea; if included, the number of species in Actaea rises to 20-26.

Selected species

Actaea is recorded as a food plant for the larva of the Dot Moth.
