Mokane is a small city located in Callaway County, Missouri, USA. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 188.
Geography
Mokane is located at 38°40'34" North, 91°52'28" West (38.676041, -91.874404)Template:GR. It is located on the left bank of the Missouri River at mile 123.4. The Katy Trail, a rails-to-trails hiking/biking path, runs through the town, which stands at mile 125.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²). 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 188 people, 77 households, and 48 families residing in the city. The population density was 242.0/km² (628.6/mi²). There were 91 housing units at an average density of 117.1/km² (304.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.94% White, 0.00% African American, 0.53% Native American, 0.53% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.53% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 77 households, of which 39.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.4% were married couples living together, 14.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.4% were non-families. 29.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 3.00.
Mokane's population is spread out, with 28.7% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 31.4% from 25 to 44, 18.6% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females, there are 77.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $55,625, and the median income for a family was $73,750. Males had a median income of $44,250 versus $20,750 for females.
