Current revision
My War is the second full length album by seminal American hardcore band Black Flag. It was released in 1984 on SST Records. Ginn played both bass and guitar on this album. The name Dale Nixon is a pseudonym. The album was released after a long period where the band could not release any albums due to a conflict with their label, and after this long period some of their fans accused them of selling out. The first 6 songs are similar to the material on Damaged, but the last 3 songs are what the album is most famous for. They are at about half the pace of the band's earlier material and are very powerful and heavy. They are also very influential, sending a message that you don't have to play fast to be punk. Views on the album are generally split by fans, many who loved the early very punk material were let down by this, while many see it as completely groundbreaking.
