The horned owls are the genus (Bubo) of 17 species of typical owls which are found in many parts of the world. Horned owls are among the largest owls.

The species are:

DNA studies suggest that four fishing owls previously in the genus Ketupa, and the Snowy Owl, genus Nyctea are specialised horned owls and should be moved to Bubo.
