A depot channel is a channel on an IRC network where you can use the @find search command. Depot channels can be found on all the major IRC networks.
In the depot channel, a user can type the @find
command, followed by the search string (example; artist and/or song title). The wildcard characters * and ? can be used in the search string. If an archive is found on a channel user's machine, the command will return a list of matches.
To request the archive, the user must type in the depot channel !nick
and the archive_name
.
The @nick
command can also be used on the depot channel to obtain information about a user and his or her files.
The file is sent via DCC.
