- This article is about the band Sugar Ray. For the boxers see, Sugar Ray Leonard or Sugar Ray Robinson.
Template:Cleanup-date Sugar Ray is a rock band from Orange County, California.
Their early work was strongly influenced by ska, though they gradually drifted away from that style.
Sugar Ray's first mainstream hit came in the summer of 1997, with the frequent, perceived by some as constant, radio play of their song "Fly". By the end of 1997, critics were calling Sugar Ray a one-hit wonder. Their next album, 14:59 was the sardonic reply to these accusations, with the title implying that their fifteen minutes of fame were not quite up--their "fame clock" reading 14:59.
In 1998, radio stations played their cut "Every Morning", while throughout 1999 "Someday" received extensive airplay.
In 2003, Sugar Ray released In The Pursuit Of Leisure, the first single Mr. Bartender (It's So Easy) had moderate success. In 2005, Sugar Ray released a greatest hits album, with two new songs, including the single "Shot of Laughter".
