Mosinee is a city located in Marathon County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 4,063.

Geography

Mosinee is located at 44°47'30" North, 89°42'19" West (44.791709, -89.705301)Template:GR.

Image:WIMap-doton-Mosinee.pngAccording to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 22.2 km² (8.6 mi²). 20.2 km² (7.8 mi²) of it is land and 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 9.11% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 4,063 people, 1,635 households, and 1,111 families residing in the city. The population density was 201.6/km² (522.2/mi²). There were 1,711 housing units at an average density of 84.9/km² (219.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.79% White, 0.12% Black or African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.22% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.32% from other races, and 0.42% from two or more races. 0.69% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 1,635 households out of which 34.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.0% were married couples living together, 9.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.0% were non-families. 26.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.00.

In the city the population was spread out with 26.3% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 30.1% from 25 to 44, 20.3% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 95.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.7 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $46,109, and the median income for a family was $51,776. Males had a median income of $34,494 versus $25,572 for females. The per capita income for the city was $18,700. 5.5% of the population and 2.8% of families were below the poverty line. 4.3% of those under the age of 18 and 7.9% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
