Allerton is a suburb of Liverpool, England.

It lies about 3 miles south east of the city centre. It has a number of large houses in the prestigious Calderstones Park area, with Victorian working class terraces around the shopping area of Allerton Road. There are two secondary schools, New Hays and Calderstones School. Allerton railway station is actually in nearby Garston: Mossley Hill and West Allerton are closer to Allerton itself.

Allerton was made an urban district by the Local Government Act 1894, and added to the county borough of Liverpool in 1913. [1]

Called Alretune in the Domesday Book, 'A town where Alder Trees grow' from the Old English words 'alor' and 'tun'.
