Image:Texas Medical Center ariel.JPG The Texas Medical Center is a large complex of 42 medicine-related institutions located in Houston, Texas, United States. It includes thirteen hospitals and two medical schools. It is located south of Midtown, and so Houston Medical Center has become a frequent misnomer.

Location

Adjacent to the center is Rice University, Hermann Park, and the Museum District.

The Saint Luke's Medical Tower, built in 1991, forms a notable part of the center's skyline.

The SONCC, short for the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Nursing and Student Community Center, was started in 2001 and was completed in 2004.

The area is served by three light rail stations (TMC Transit Center, Dryden/TMC Station, and Memorial Hermann Hospital/Houston Zoo Station) on the Red Line of the METRORail light rail system.

Houses and apartments within Super Neighborhood number 33 (which covers almost all of the Medical Center) are zoned to the following Houston ISD schools: Roberts Elementary School (in Southgate), Ryan Middle School (in the Third Ward), and Lamar High School (in Upper Kirby).
