- In electronic music, a sound (timbre), which can be used to produce soft, imperceptible harmonic background. The most common (almost standard) types of pads are: choir pad, string instruments, warm pad, etc.
- An abbreviation for maxi pad, sanitary napkin (US), or "towel" (UK).
- One of the transliterations of the fourth syllable in the Buddhist "six syllable mantra": Om mani padme hum.
- In rocketry, pad is short for launch pad, the platform from which an orbital vehicle is launched.
