PM is an early evening ("PM at five PM") news magazine programme broadcast on BBC Radio 4. It airs for one hour on weekdays, usually presented by Eddie Mair, and thirty minutes on Saturdays, presented by Carolyn Quinn. Nigel Wrench also presents on occasions. It is currently edited by Peter RipponTemplate:Ref. The production team also works on Radio 4's The World at One, The World This Weekend and Broadcasting House. As well as serious news content, the programme is known for its often satirical and sarcastic commentry, both from the presenters and in letters from listeners.
The programme has been running since April 6 1970, first presented by William Hardcastle and Derek Cooper, with the tag line "sums up the day, and your evening starts here". Other past presenters include Steve Race, Joan Bakewell, Bob Williams, Susannah Simons, Valerie Singleton and Gordon CloughTemplate:Ref.
In November 2005, the programme began producing a daily e-newsletter, written by Mair.
