Keith Gerald "Jerry" Holkins is the writer of the popular webcomic Penny Arcade. Holkins goes by the allonym "Tycho Brahe" on the internet. He is especially known for writing long and humorous news posts or rants which accompany each comic. Some fans claim that his intelligent and witty posts are often as amusing or more amusing than the comic itself, while others claim the style of writing is too extravagant.
Jerry writes in a verbose style, and frequently inserts wordplay into his posts. His style contrasts with that of Mike Krahulik, and between the two of them they often seem to represent the diversity of thought and opinion between action gamers and the more cerebral RPG players [1].
As the character of Tycho was not originally meant to represent Holkins, the two have practically no physical similarities.
His lesser known exploits include being a lead singer/guitarist in a band called The Fine Print, whose works are freely available over the internet.
He lives in Seattle, Washington with his wife, Brenna. Their son, Elliot Jacob Holkins, was born around the 22nd of November 2005, and Jerry announced the birth of his son on the Penny Arcade newspost on the 25th.
When not working on their comic, Jerry and his partner Mike Krahulik enjoy playing video games, and attend gaming conferences and events.
A little known fact is that Jerry Holkins' first name is not in fact Jerry; it is Keith. This can be seen here in a scan of a credit card receipt that was used in a comic. Keith is his first name, while Jerry is a shortened version of his middle name Gerald.
