Current revision
Maria Emanuel, Margrave of Meissen (born 1926) is the head of the Royal House of Saxony.
Born in Prüfenig, Germany as son of Hereditary Prince Frederick Christian of Saxony, Margrave of Meissen and Princess Isabel Elena of Thurn and Taxis.
He married at the age of 40 to Princess Anastasia of Anhalt; they have no children, and he has acknowledged as his heir the son of his sister Princess Anna and Prince Robert of Gessaphe, Prince Alexander of Gessaphe, married to Princess Giselle of Bavaria, although this decision is disputed by junior branches of the house of Wettin. Even if Saxony were still a Kingdom, Alexander would not be able to become its king due to Salic law.
