Image:Garner state park.jpg Image:Garner dance2.jpg Garner State Park is the most popular state park with overnight camping in Texas. The park is 1420 acres and is located at 29.58, -99.74 on the Frio River 30 miles (48 km) north of Uvalde, Texas. The park was acquired in 1934 - 1936 and named for John Nance Garner, former Vice-President of the United States. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) made the park’s original improvements, which include a large pavilion.

Generations of Texans know Garner for the jukebox dances that occur nightly during the summer and spring break at the pavilion. Many people who come to Garner also enjoy tubing the Frio.
