1-Hexanol is an alcohol with a six carbon chain and the structural formula of CH3(CH2)5OH. It is a clear colorless liquid that is slightly soluble in water, but miscible with ether and ethanol. There are two additional isomers of hexanol, 2-hexanol and 3-hexanol, which differ by the location of the alcohol functional group.
1-Hexanol is one of the compounds that gives freshly mowed grass its smell.
