Current revision
Douglas College, established in 1970, is the largest college in British Columbia. Unlike universities like Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia, Douglas College does not issue degrees. It is often attended as a more affordable, educational "stepping stone" from high school to university for students who may require higher grades or certain prerequisites to attend SFU or UBC.
The college has two campuses, the main New Westminster campus and the David Lam campus in Coquitlam.
The college is named after the former Governor of British Columbia, James Douglas, and the David Lam campus is named after a former Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia.
The student newspaper The Other Press has been in print since 1976, making it one of BC's oldest continually-run student publications.
