BBC GMR (Greater Manchester Radio) was a BBC Local Radio service in the English city of Manchester and surrounding area. Launched on 10th September 1970 as Radio Manchester, it was renamed to GMR in 1988, with a brief period in 1997 under the title GMR Talk. The station reverted to the name BBC Radio Manchester and introduced a new programme schedule on April 3, 2006.
It broadcast from its studios on Oxford Road, Manchester using transmitters at Holme Moss and Saddleworth. Programmes included the long-running phone-in with Allan Beswick, late-night music and comedy show Michelle Mullane around Midnight and GMR Brass, a brass band music programme.
