Bruce Beresford (born 16 August 1940) is an Australian film director, and to a much lesser extent writer, producer and clarinetist. Born in Sydney to Leslie and Lona Beresford, he works both in Australia and the United States. He is also a contemporary of actor John Bell (with whom he shared lodgings during their university days) and broadcaster and writer Clive James (with whom he shared lodgings soon after moving to England).
