Template:Politics of Pakistan The Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) is an opposition group in Pakistan. It campaigns for a return to civilian rule after the 1999 military coup.
The two main political parties involved are PML-N (Pakistan Muslim League (N)) and PPPP (Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians). Both are remnants of the political parties that ruled Pakistan from 1988-1999 and are severely hampered by their corrupt and abusive time in power. Their resistance to the Musharraf government is limited to severe criticism in the press and attempts to disrupt parliament. Anti-government cmapaigns run by the ARD have been total failures.
