Shiv (July 23, 1936 - May 7, 1973), as he's fondly called, was a revolutionary and maverick Punjabi poet. Shiv's poetry centres around sorrow, pain of separation or denouncing the self. He was known for stringing together simple everyday words and creating compelling, vivid metaphors. Shiv's works stand out for unmistakable originality as much as his seeming obsession with pain.
Shiv died at a young age just like Keats to whom he is invariably compared.
