Image:OniPress Logo.gif Oni Press is an independent comic book publisher based in Portland, Oregon and founded in 1997. They have the stated intention of publishing original works deemed too risky or unusual by the largest publishers. The company name derives from a particularly destructive demon in Japanese folklore.

Recently, the publisher coined the term "real mainstream" to describe its output. Traditionally, American comics regards superhero titles as "mainstream" and other genres as "non-mainstream", a reversal of the perception in other media. The publisher therefore adopted the "real mainstream" term to suggest that it publishes comic books and graphic novels whose subject matter is more in line with the popular genres of other media; thrillers, romances, realistic drama and so on. For the most part, Oni Press avoids publishing superhero, fantasy and science fiction titles unless they approach these concepts from an unusual angle.

Oni Press publishes one title on a regular monthly basis - Greg Rucka's Queen and Country. Their other titles are either irregular recurring miniseries, often published in four to six monthly installments, or original graphic novels.
