It was first launched on 2000. Most games are authored in Macromedia Flash or Shockwave. A few are written in Java (such as RuneScape, an affiliate of MiniClip). A majority of the games are free, and some are available for download. There are demo versions, but the user can choose to pay for the full version games, which usually includes more levels of game play or enhanced features not found in demos. They became popular, and maintain popularity through the quality and viral marketing of the games that they produce. They are the world's largest online games website with 27 million unique users per month according to Comscore Media Metrix, Dec., 2005. They are a world top 50 website. They are also the largest privately held entertainment website on the Internet; their popularity originally arose from a game called Dancing Bush. Miniclip currently offers over 300 games for free, and now offers cash-enabled skill games where you can bet against other players.
