Image:Booth Gardner WA Guard.jpg Booth Gardner (born August 21, 1936), an heir to the Weyerhaeuser fortune, was the Governor of the U.S state of Washington between 1985 and 1993. He also served as the ambassador of the GATT. He is a Democrat. Before serving as governor, Gardner was Pierce County Executive. His service was notable for advancing standards-based education and environmental protection.
After his retirement, Gardner, a sufferer of Parkinson's Disease, became an advocate of assisted suicide. He promises to submit a ballot measure for the 2008 elections legalizing the practice in Washington. [1]
As governor, Gardner's chief of staff was Dennis Heck.
