A phrase common in British slang, Australian slang and New Zealand slang. Refers to a party with lots of alcohol.

Often used as part of the phrase "Couldn't organize a piss-up in a brewery" to refer to someone as disorganized or incompetent.

The variant "couldn't organize a party in a brewery" is sometimes used to avoid actually using a word considered vulgar, while still clearly alluding to it. For example:

"If anybody ever wants to organize a party in a brewery, I suggest they do not go and ask the management of Royal Mail how to do it."
