Adel al-Jubeir

Adel al-Jubeir is a foreign policy advisor to Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah. He is often the face of the Kingdom in the West, particularly the United States. As the son of Diplomat, he has lived, traveled and studied in many countries. He received his first education in Germany, where his father was a diplomat. Later he continued his collage education at the University of North Texas and went on to pursue a Master's degree in political science from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. At that time the Saudi ambassador to Washington, Prince Bandar bin Sultan, asked him to work for him. He became his assistant for congressional affairs. It was during the First Gulf War (August 1990 - Feb. 1991)that he first appeared to the world as the spokesman for the Saudi government. In 2000 he was transferred to the Royal Court in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia becoming advisor to crown prince Abdullah. With the ascension of the crown prince to the throne of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Al-Jubeir was also promoted, thus becoming advisor to King Abdullah at the ministerial rank. Mr. Al-Jubeir is a well traveled, highly educated man, who is fluent in English, Arabic, German and a working knowledge of French. His hobbies include among others reading, horse back riding, deep sea diving, water skiing, sking, squash and tennis.
