Eve Bunting (born December 18, 1928) is the author of more than 100 books, mostly for young readers.

She was born in Maghera, Northern Ireland, but moved to California in 1958. She began writing after moving to California, where she enrolled in a creative writing course in a community college. Teaches at UCLA.

Some of her most famous writings include Butterfly House, Fly Away Home, "The Summer of Riley" and SOS Titanic.

When she was little, her father used to read her poems. At the end, her father would ask her,"Do you know what that means, Darlin'?" Eve grew up to love poetry.
