CyberMage (full title: CyberMage: Darklight Awakening) is a first-person shooter game with RPG elements, created by Origin, and published by Electronic Arts. It was released in late 1995. Set in a cyberpunk reality, it was characterized by a dark, heavy atmosphere. Sales-wise, it wasn't particularly successful, which is attributable to high system requirements and gameplay difficulty.

Plot

Image:Cybermag screen003.jpg Set in the year 2044, the game features a world ruled by corporations in place of traditional governments, with rebellious groups that oppose these. Corporations faced with two problems in particular, that of the rebellion and that of competition among themselves, start working on implant products, leading to hybrid humans. You play a regular citizen who, seeing one of these hybrids be shot down by a sniper, jumps in the bullets' way and gets hit.

Following this, you wake up in a bio-gen tube, in a strange suit, with a gem implanted in your forehead, which you discover is the Darklight, a stone of magical power. Then, after hearing gunshot and explosions, you crawl out of the tube, to find the aftermath of the battle generated by those trying to find you. Amnesiac and disorientated, you must from this point on try and understand what your previous life consisted of and what your true identity is.
