Generation One
Arcee is a fictional character in the Transformers universe.
Although a group of Female Autobots had already been featured in one episode of the cartoon series, Arcee quickly became the most famous due to her position as a recurring cast member following her introduction in Transformers: The Movie. In the movie it was implied that Arcee might have had feelings for Hot Rod, but since his transformation to Rodimus Prime she seemed to grow closer to Springer. In the U.S. continuity of the cartoon, she later became a Headmaster by binary-bonding to her friend Daniel Witwicky. Arcee was voiced by Susan Blu, and by Yoko Kawanami in Japan.
Arcee toys
Image:Gijoe-transformers.jpg Like all the new characters in the movie (with the exception of Ultra Magnus), Arcee was designed for animation first, but while the other new characters inspired toys that saw final release, Arcee's design never passed early prototype stages. When she became a Headmaster, the Japanese dallied with the idea of repainting the Chromedome toy to represent her, but the suggestion was abandoned.
A non-transforming "Heroes Of Cybertron" Arcee was released eventually.
Marvel Comics
Arcee was absent from the US Marvel Comics (barring the adaptation of the movie), because the comics had established that in their continuity, Transformers did not possess sexes, thus Arcee's presence as a clearly female robot would have defied this. She did, however, feature in the UK Comics stories based in the future era, which made use of the movie's cast, supplemented with the tale of her creation to validate her existence - she was the result of an attempt by the Autobots to better understand the human concept of gender, and to appease human protesters.
Devil's Due Comics
Arcee appeared in the Devil's Due third series of G.I. Joe vs. The Transformers. Grimlock, Arcee, Bumblebee and Perceptor were sent to Earth to aid G.I. Joe in removing the influence of Cybertonian technology on the planet. When Cobra attached the base, the Autobots helped repel the Cobra Battle Android Trooper armies.
Transformers: Armada
In 2003, in the Japanese version of Transformers: Armada, Arcee was the name given to the prominent Mini-Con known in America as Sureshock (leading to some debate on the Mini-con's gender - the Dreamwave Comics would later identify Sureshock as female).
Transformers: Energon
In Transormers: Energon, Arcee had a wide-release original mold made in homage to the original character. In the Energon storyline, the character Arcee was a female Omnicon who transformed into a motorcyle and used an energon crossbow. She was created to be a leader for the Omnicons and, as such, was the only Omnicon to have a unique name and body-type. In Japan the toy and character were named Ariel.
Motto: "I know only two speeds... fast and faster”
Profile: Arcee is a fast and feisty young Omnicon. She is a dedicated warrior who has proven, time and again, that she can fight alongside the best of her Autobot teammates. Her skills with an Energon bow are unmatched. In vehicle mode, Arcee becomes a super fast sport bike and can outrun anyone who dares to challenge. Her loyalty to the Autobot cause is unquestionable, as strong as her will to fight, and as great as her tremendous speed. Although she is young and her rank is low, Optimus Prime already considers her to be one of his greatest warriors. The Omnicons are the result of Over-Run nurturing their potential (comics). Produced from a natural evolutionary step with new abilities. Evolved from Minicons? Autobots? Decepticons? Other Transformers? The cartoon is unclear as to the true origins as well.
Abilities: Skilled with the energon bow, which is constructed from her energon blaster and missile launcher. They can be used in either mode. Her sport bike mode is one of the fastest land vehicle modes of all Transformers. She also possesses an affinity with energon which has yet to be clarified. All Omnicons can harness raw energon into energon chips which can be used by Autobots for extra power or turned into special weapons for combat.
Weaknesses: A young leader, she often puts her team in dangerous situations. Her lack of strength can also be used against her.
Transformers: Universe
In 2001, Arcee finally received a toy in the form of an exclusive for the 2001 Botcon convention. The toy itself was a recolored version of the previous year's TM2 Blackarachnia toy, and the packaging featured a new sound clip recorded by Susan Blu.
Function: Valkyrie
Motto: "Looks are always deceiving."
Bio: Once viewed as an almost maternal figure among Autobots, Arcee has continued to find ways to improve herself since the days of the Great War. After a series of personal traumatic events, she secluded herself from her comrades, honing her combat skills and mental focus. Her mysterious reemergence with a new body has turned heads of friends and foes alike. Now a master of Crystalocution, by which she attacks her enemies at their fracture points, and the lost art of Tekkaido, Arcee continues to strike fear into her opponents. In her new form, she also wields deadly energy blades, localized deflector shields, and reportedly has precognizance of one's imminent death, thus making it difficult to gain her trust.
In 2005 Energon Arcee was repackaged into the Transformers: Universe toyline, although so far the character has no appeared in any of the official storyline.
