McLaren Racing is the member company of the McLaren Group that controls Team McLaren, a racing team and Formula One constructor.

It is one of the big four teams of modern day Formula One motor racing (Ferrari, Renault and Williams being the other three). Between these three companies, they have won 26 drivers championships since 1974. McLaren World Champion drivers have been Emerson Fittipaldi, James Hunt, Niki Lauda, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna and Mika Hakkinen.

McLaren first introduced the carbonfibre monocoque to Formula One in the early 1980s which revolutionised the cars by making them stronger, stiffer and lighter and therefore faster.

McLaren won 15 of 16 races in the 1988 season.
