The Providence Reds played in the Canadian-American Hockey League (CAHL) 1926-36 and the American Hockey League (AHL) 1936-76. They won the Calder Cup in 1938, 1940, 1949, and 1956. They became the Rhode Island Reds in 1976. The Providence Reds played at the old Rhode Island Auditorium, located on North Main Street in Providence, from 1926 through 1972. The franchise relocated to Binghamton in 1977.
