This article is about the military acronym. For the image scanner API, see Windows Image Acquisition (WIA). See also Wattay International Airport.

WIA is a three letter abbreviation meaning wounded in action. It is used to describe soldiers who have been wounded while fighting, but have not been killed. Typically it implies that the soldiers cannot fight for an extended period (otherwise they would not be listed as WIA).
