The PowerJet SaM146 (Двигатель SaM146) is an engine family produced by the PowerJet joint venture between Snecma Moteurs and NPO Saturn. The engine will be used in Sukhoi's Russian Regional Jet. The SaM146 will be based in part on CFM International's CFM56 engine.<ref name="avweek_venture">"Franco-Russian Venture Will Seek To Evolve Into World-Class Engine Player", Aviation Week & Space Technology, August 1, 2004.</ref>
The engine family will supply between 13,500 to 15,400 lbf (61.3 to 80 kN) of thrust. Civil certification will be in 2006 by Russian and European authorities.
The workshare will be divided as follows:
- Saturn: Core, accessories, control systems, final assembly
- Snecma: Low-pressure compressor, fan, propulsion system integration (€600 million investment from 2005 to 2009)
- Hispano-Suiza: Unknown, risk sharing partner
- Hurel Hispano: Unknown, risk sharing partner
- Avio: Unknown, risk sharing partner
