Mixed Company is Swarthmore College's oldest co-ed a cappella group. Founded in 1991 due to the dearth of mixed-gender a cappella on campus, the group has grown in size (sometimes) and musicality (repeatedly) in the intervening period. As of the spring of 2004, the group was composed of four women (plus two more studying abroad) and seven men, though the numbers are usually reversed, with more women than men at any given time. Their repertoire consists largely of popular music from the 1980s to the present, and the vast majority of songs are arranged by group members past and present.
There are two other Mixed Company groups (at the time of this writing) -- one at Stanford University and one at Yale University. The three groups are not affiliated in any way.Template:US-singing-group-stub
