Structure
This is not yet decided, just a proposal:
It should be : Introduction, Date, History, Celebration
Introduction (section 0): Just a general overview of the article, like we have in most articles on Wikipedia. Just mention the most important stuff covered in all the other sections (see Wikipedia:Lead section)
Date: First of all, describe when the date is (e.g. 4th of July), and the significance of that date (e.g. when the United States declaration of independance was signed). If the date changes (e.g. Jewish holidays), put the date on the calander where it's stationary (e.g. Purim on the 14th of Adar) and the dates for the next couple of years (we might want a table similar to that which is on Rosh Hashana). Also, the reason why the date changes if there is one (e.g. Lunar Calandar or first monday of month).
History: Put the history of this holiday. What this holiday means. We might also want to add pop culture references to this holiday if there are any. This can, of course, be multiple sections.
Celebration: What did people used to do on this holiday? What do they do now?
Remember to write in the proper style for an encyclopedic article.
Basically, most articles should have been written in this format already, as it's just most logical.
Perhaps we should add some more sections
Hierarchy definition
See #Categories.
Goals
Well, I suppose our first goal is to get this Project up and running, after that we should pick an article to re-do to make an example, and then we should restructure all Holiday articles.
General strategy and discussion forums
Infoboxes
NOTE: If you use this, do {{subst:HolidayInfo}} and then change the stuff to your liking (and add stuff too if you need). A good idea given by Neutrality was to change the colors depending on holiday (blue/white for jewish, green/red for christmas, national colors for national holidays, etc). Table by Neutrality. (By the way, the table looks better on the page than here).
Articles this table is currently being used in:
- I've changed the infobox template {{Infobox Holiday. It looks like what you see to the right. I'm in the process of adding them to holiday pages. Your help would be appreciated. For information on using the Infobox, go to its talk page. joturner 14:26, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
Templates
Perhaps templates for next holiday in the category, such as Template:JewishHolidays — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 20:54, 21 August 2005 (UTC)

Here's my proposal (excuse the little bit of messiness, I was in a hurry) — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 22:59, 23 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Old Proposal <-- Old one was removed as of 21 August 2005, replaced with the new one below...
what do you think?
Here's my new proposal, some things to note are:
- Christmas is under 3 categories, because it is a national holiday in the US, it is celebrated Internationally, and it is technically a Christian holiday. It'd probably be under more (like United Kingdom National Holidays, etc.)
- The new International Holidays Category
- It's less messy
Any thoughts? — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 20:59, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
By the way, another category we might want to add is Humerous or Entertaining Holidays under International Holidays. Or maybe simply its own category under Holidays. — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 21:16, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
